Growing up on a diet of Laurel and Hardy, Holland's Pies and Prog-Rock LPs, I am the youngest of two performing Accringtonian brothers, who hail directly from hilly East Lancashire.

I make it my mission in life to search for the silly in all things, and so there is something fitting about now finding myself ribbing our lords and masters in Westminster in my role as a regular Writer, Performer, Director and Pianist for NewsRevue - the World's Longest-Running satirical sketch comedy show.

I am also passionate about my working class roots and so I am always keen to try and make the industry a more accessible and welcoming place for people from less well-off and less connected backgrounds.

Indeed, as a new writer, shining the spotlight on the communities I grew up in and the issues which matter to and affect them remain of paramount importance in my mind as I go about creating my own work.

I also happen to be a Doctor Who-vian to the bone, and so I will happily spend any down time with my black and white VHS tapes, a good ale and plonk on the synthesizer.
